Western Herbalism

Western herbalismRelatively speaking, the western herbalism we know today is a baby, though its deepest roots lie in the western herbalism of antiquity.

Comparing it with modern allopathic medicine, the latter is fully reactive, combating disease when and where it occurs. Allopathic medicine views systems and organs in isolation, and seeks to understand a single cause of a single condition and find a targeted cure.

Western herbal medicine is gaining new recognition as a means of providing more of a focus on support for the whole person.

Known in this context as complementary medicine, herbal remedies along with acupuncture, massage and a wide array of holistic methods are used to augment the reach of modern western medicine.
