Remedies for Anxiety

Taking herbal remedies for anxiety (or anything else) is good to a point.

Beyond that ponder these four points:

Periodic use is wonderful and appropriate

Long-term, daily use is not. Not because of the herbs themselves, but because if you are needing anxiety or sleep medication over an extended period, something else is probably going on. Too much work? Too many stressors or triggers? Too few coping skills? Some medical problem lurking in the background (hyperthyroidism is a simple example)? Keep an objective eye on yourself. There is a time to get professional help. Don't wait too long.

This is for your information only

If you've read this far I'm sure you understand this is for information purposes only. I adore herbs and have a profound respect for them. But I also recognize they can be used improperly.

If your symptoms are beyond moderate see a doctor

If your symptoms are beyond moderate or if they're not but don't abate, definitely take the next step and see a health care professional. I know the AMA would love for me to tell you it has to be an M.D., but I would actually suggest an N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor) if you have one where you live. They are doctors, but specialized in natural methods. They know and work with herbs and often use homeopathy as well. A good N.D. will get tests and refer out appropriately, just as an M.D. would.

Wellness in mind, body, and spirit are interconnected

If any one of these is suffering, sooner or later the impacts will spill over into the others. Conversely, treating one will, sooner or later, help the others. Anxiety and sleep problems are the outer layer of an inner system that is stressed to overflow. If you're needing more than occasional support, the whole system needs to be considered.

Live well. Live naturally. Be conscious.
