Natural Weight Loss with Herbs and Self-Hypnosis
We are here to say: Yes you can! There is a way of natural weight control. But before you get all exited a word of caution: Is there a silver bullet for weight control?
How to put this gently. NO! NO! and HELL NO! Does it do what it says it will? Of course it does. But that doesn't mean that you or I will. At the end of the day, that's the point. I believe most of us know what's healthy to eat and how much of it is good for us.
I also believe that temptation, life style, and emotions are powerful contributors to our eating obsessions. Food, for many of us, is our drug of choice.
Remember the guy who lost like a million pounds by eating at Subway every day? Assuming that actually happened, and assuming he kept the weight off, my conclusion is that when it comes to taking off weight, anything can work. The corollary is that it is equally likely that nothing will work.
It's not about a silver bullet somewhere out there. Natural weight loss is not about a particular diet, a new fad, or a fabulous herb. I do believe there is a silver bullet, a magic ingredient, and a real showstopper. I believe, for better or worse, it's you and your own self-image.
I've taught enough weight control classes to know three things:
- Habits prevail. They are far stronger than any food, fad or diet.
- Will power is short-lived; it can get you started, but it won't last.
- Food is not the issue. It's the symptom.
I also know this:
- We can change our eating habits permanently.
- We can change our relationship to food permanently.
- We can keep weight off permanently.
To do so requires enthusiastic cooperation from the strongest part of your self – your subconscious mind. Our self-image resides there, and from it we create an outer reflection of our inner image. Often that's the bad news, but it's also the good news.
Five Principals of Natural Weight Loss
Find a natural relationship to eating
The other piece of good news is that we continue to create our self-image every night when we go to sleep and every morning when we wake up. That means if we don't like it we can change it. Once our subconscious mind is excited and fully on board about a different self-image it will work as hard to reflect that as it did the old one. That's when change happens, suddenly it's not a diet, it's just a better way of eating, exercise becomes fun and not a chore and it's all a piece of cake if you'll pardon the expression.

There are techniques for making those powerful self-image changes. If you're interested in pursuing it I'd suggest some good hypnotherapy tapes or a visit to a well-trained hypnotherapist. It's not the only method, but I believe it is critical for natural weight loss. And it is powerful and effective..
So far I've been talking about personal responsibility. I believe in that and I know you do if you're reading a book about health and herbs. We agree that as grown-ups we are responsible for what we put in our mouths, and I don't want to put a qualifier on that. Buuut... I have to. Because this is not just an individual problem. This is way past that. It's beyond young women wanting to fit into a size 2, or trying to look like a movie star. It's beyond mature women worrying about an extra five pounds. Way. In fact it's way past anything we've ever known in human history.
How do we cope with natural weight loss when it feels so big?
The answer is paradoxical. Sometimes it's easier to cope with something really huge than our normal daily dramas. It's all about motivation.
I'm going to suggest a sure-fire way to get started. This may not be the moment or the issue for you and that's fine! If you'd like to take this on, enjoy and send your judgmental self to the movies before, during and after you do this!
Finding the subconscious as a way of natural weight loss
To me, this is the first step to natural weight loss. We have to go in there and get it. As I said before, there are good CD's for this, but here's something you can try right now. The principle (no matter how much you pay for the CD) is exactly the same.
To get to the subconscious mind we need to quiet the mental chatter and relax. That's it. The more we relax, the more quiet our conscious mind becomes. The quieter it is, the more we relax.
The subconscious mind is like a huge container. It holds old memories, belief systems, our flight or fight reflex and protective mechanisms. It's not a thinking part of us in the way our conscious mind is. It's passive and can't tell the difference between something real and something strongly, repeatedly and emotionally imagined. It needs positive suggestions combined with powerful emotional beliefs in a very relaxed state.
Here is what you do as often as you can to support your natural weight loss
Find a comfortable position and a time when you can turn off your cell phone and you won't be disturbed for at least 10 - 15 minutes. If life is hectic, this could be right before you sleep or before you hurl yourself out of bed in the morning. They're both ideal times because in those half waking moments the veil is quite thin between our active mind and our inner world.
Find your best way to relax. A good method is to take each body part, focus on it, and tell it to relax. Another good one is to count yourself down from 20 to 1, slowing your breathing, and using the (unspoken) word 'relax' after each number. Any technique you know that helps you relax deeply is fine.
Now explain to your subconscious mind what you want. Show it the image of the healthy body you want to have. Be enthusiastic about it, like you're trying to get a little kid excited about a new game. Be descriptive, detailed, repetitive, and enthusiastic. Take as much time for this as you want, but it needs at least a solid 5 - 10 minutes. Especially the first time. Thank your subconscious for listening and head back out.
Smile. You just accomplished a lot more than you may realize.
