Immune Support with Cat's Claw
A healthy choice for your immune support
Allow me to introduce myself. I am cat's claw, una de gato in Spanish. I don't mean to brag, but most people who know me consider me, well, really more the cat's meow than a claw.
Cat's claw is both an immune modulator and an immune stimulant. Immune modulators adjust (or modulate) the functioning of the immune system as a whole. Immune stimulants promote increased activity or production of immune cells. In that sense exercise or happiness are immune stimulants.
It belongs to that elite group of adaptogen herbs. Science hasn't figured how yet, but in some ways these plants restore the normal functions of an organ or a system, whichever direction it needs to find balance.
Cat's claw has gotten some press in the U.S. as a support for patients going through chemo therapy and is commonly used recommended by herbalists for chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, lupus, inflammatory conditions, and intestinal disorders. One of the amazing things about cat's claw is that it rises to the top of the list for all the ills it helps.
Health Tip
Use Cat's Claw daily in the cold season. It suppurts the immune system and can help prevent from getting sick.
But you may just know me for my daily tonic value. No? Not yet? Well then, perhaps you've heard what is most talked about -- no one beats the cat when it comes to immune support.

* Other fabulous immune builders from the Amazon rainforest include pau d’arco, samambaia, and bitter melon. Consider researching these. You may be amazed at how much they do. If you’re on the web, start with Raintree Nutrition at www.rain-tree.com for a thorough science-based review.Â
* Are you one of those people who gets a bug from recycled airplane air? If so, remembering the disclaimers about using herbs, consider taking some cat’s claw before you fly and see if it makes a difference for you. I’d love to hear your stories. Just email me at terra@oneplanetherbs.com.
* A client of mine told me she used cat’s claw for a gum problem, and her pain was gone in 30 minutes. She didn’t know it was an anti-inflammatory, but thought it might help her immune system fight off the infection.
* Thank your immune system. You can do this by adding some extra physical activity into your day, adding one food to your diet that is high in anti-oxidants and nutrient-rich. And you can also just say thank you immune system! If you’re so inclined.
