Calming support

We think it is more important than ever before to get the word out on natural ways of calming down and getting back on track. After all, these are some mighty stressful times we're living in!

I've been feeling it and so has everybody I know. We all want to stay calm, feel focused, and get on with life -- but it ain't always easy! Anxiety-producing inputs are all too easily available:

Just look at what happens if you read the news. The media seems to have found an effective formula for stressing everyone out. Even if you started your day in a frolickin' good mood, flip on the radio and you're likely to start your morning with a venti cup of stress!

Calming support is needed when worries take over your mind. Then there's work place stress and anxiety. Unfortunately, pink has become the new office decor. It's a wee bit nerve wracking working while wondering if the axe might land in your cubicle! Studies are coming through about the anxiety levels of people who are not the ones laid off, and their anxiety is often higher than those who were. I would recommend calming support when you are affected.

I try to be careful about what I read in the news, but I couldn't avoid noticing the headline on the 9.8 percent unemployment rate. Layoffs, foreclosures, bankruptcies… Sometimes it feels like everything out there is waiting to pounce.

That's when it's time to STOP and seek out calming support. For starters, breathe! Talk yourself into calming down. Call a friend. Whatever works. Sure it's better to head feelings of anxiety off before you feel the adrenaline. But that's not always going to happen. This is one of the moments we want to help you through by offering tips, tricks, techniques and exercises.

Sometimes it doesn't hit directly. Sometimes you may feel okay, but have trouble sleeping. Believe me when I tell you you are not alone! Medications for anxiety and sleeping pills are among the leading prescriptions in industrialized nations around the world.

Pathways to calmness

This brings me to what you will not find in this section. In a word, pharmaceuticals. We are devoted entirely to natural ways to stay calm. If you suffer from anxiety disorder we would expect you to be under the care of a physician and that your health care professional is working with you to find solutions.

Like all prescriptions, these don't come alone. They come with serious warnings about possible side effects and the potential for addiction. Herbs are powerful calming support too. Otherwise they would not have been used as long and as successfully as they have been for, oh somewhere around 60,000 years.

Calming support But herbal remedies are entirely different from synthesized, targeted pharmaceuticals.

The nature of herbs and herbal remedies is one of the topics we will discuss in this section. We own a small herbal company, OnePlanet Herbs. Our products are all from rainforest herbs, so that is a topic we will introduce. We also will cover a broad range of other kinds of herbal remedies and link to many other herbal sites. We will discuss calming teas and make suggestions.

In this Calming Support section we go beyond herbal remedies. We have information, links and tips on other modalities. We have articles on activities you can do at home. We teach you how to harness the power of your mind to help you feel safe, secure and calm even in turbulent times. We go beyond calmness to wellness.

The pathways to well-being are many. Over time we hope to walk with you on several of the byways, highways and pathways to inner calm.
